NSS works with the IPC. IPC stands for International Primary Curriculum and is an integral, thematic and creative curriculum for children from 4-12 years of age. It is focused on case subjects such as geography, history, nature and technique and creative subjects such as music, technique and the arts. Every subject consists of a number of learning goals, from which the teacher selects one or two. The children work towards these goals in their work. It is intended that the children achieve the goals through different kinds of tasks. There are different kinds of goals: – subject-related goals. – international goals. – personal goals (we don’t work to the goals using IPC but Social Skills). The IPC is a curriculum that has been designed to help the students to learn and enjoy what they are learning. The children thereby become the owner of their own learning process and are focusing on goals while they are learning. That means that we also evaluate what the children are getting out of the learning. Tests and evaluation are important because in this way the school can find out if the students are indeed learning anything.
