Phoenix Publishers

Phoenix Publishers Limited is a privately owned Kenyan publishing company that was established in 1987. Over the years, it has become one of Kenya’s key publishers, known for producing affordable English and Swahili readers for children and young adults, as well as educational textbooks. The company primarily operates in Kenya but is also recognized in the larger East African region.

Phoenix Publishers has won three prestigious Burt Awards (2013, 2014) and is consistently shortlisted for other esteemed literary prizes, including the Jomo Kenyatta and Wahome Mutahi awards. With over 300 readers, many of which are approved by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), Phoenix Publishers plays a significant role in both educational publishing and leisure reading.

The company has recently gained approval for over 21 coursebook titles under the nationalized curriculum and continues to expand its catalog to meet the needs of Kenyan learners.
